When the mind will not slow down, the body often knows the way back. A short breath practice, a walk without your phone, or a hand on the heart can interrupt the loop without asking you to think your way out.
Meet the speed, do not argue with it
Racing thoughts are often a nervous system asking for orientation — a sense of here, now, and enough. Trying to empty the mind tends to add another task. Try coming back to sensation instead.
Grounding you can do anywhere
- Feel both feet and name the floor under you.
- Look for four colors in the room.
- Exhale longer than you inhale, even once.
A three-step reset
- Pause the next input — screen, conversation, or plan.
- Move: walk, stretch, or shake out the hands.
- Return to one thing you can finish in five minutes.
You do not have to win the argument with your thoughts. You only have to come back to your body.
If sitting with others would help, join a meditation circle. Shared silence can hold what solo practice cannot, especially on loud days.
